5/26/10 More Tags - Ginormous Tags

AlphaStamps Ginormous Tag Swap with a Mad Hatter's / Tea Party theme.  The subject matter had to be about tea and a tea party - with one of their collage sheets and an embellishment of some kind.

5/15/10 Tags and Postcards

This week I finished tags for an ArtChix swap - 6 tags using some new collage sheets.

I also sent an ATC for the "Sisters" swap on the fairly new ArtChix Sister-Site Yahoo Group.  It's featured on their home page!!!

And three postcards also through the Artchix Sister Site - swap themed "Sunnier Days" 4x6 postcards.

I found the Barbie images in some old Barbie Bazaar magazines I had in my studio.  They reminded me of summer days as a kid playing with dolls.

5/9/10 An Enchanted Room

Paper Whimsy hosted an Enchanted Room Challenge - a miniature room no larger that 7" on any side with the theme of a nursery rhyme or poem.  I had a really hard time with this - originally I was stuck on doing "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe", but I could not figure out the shoe.  I made several mock-ups and even bought some kids shoes that I thought I'd alter, but nothing really worked. I wanted to use several of the kids images, so I remembered the nursery rhyme  "Mondays Child is fair of face......" so that's what I finally used on as inspiration.

4/17/10 Steampunk and Marie Antoinette

This week I did a swap through Collage Stuff with the theme of Marie Antoinette - 4 ATC's.

And one through Swapbot and Alphastamps - they both had Steampunk as the theme - they're mostly collage elements from Alphastamps with chipboard "gears", clock faces, compass and gear stickers.

4/11/10 Catching Up

I finished up a few things this weekend - the first is a swap through Paper Whimsy called the Whimsy Word Journal.
There are images from their collage sheets (flowers and figure), a metal dragonfly, a paper arched window I embellished with a copper stamp to bring out the texture and metal tags with the name of the person the book is for.  There are blank sheets inside and the first and last are textured and double sided.

I also finished an Artchix Challenge - "Celebrate Your Day" 20 Inchies.

And the third challenge I finished was through Lenna Andrew's website.  It's a set of four 4" x 4" collages with Roads and Paths as the theme.  I was stuck for a while on what to do and then I saw some old photos and thought of the road my grandparents when they left to their country to come to America and the ideas of home.

3/29/10 Not Much to Tell

Well, the last couple weeks have kind of flown by - and I haven't done a whole lot of artwork.  These images are from a Chunky Book Swap - the pages are 4.5" x 4" and are made for a specific person with the subject matter they wanted in their book. (angels, architecture)
I used a combination of found images, rubber stamping, marker and rub-on overlays.

I also started a digital photography class through Jessica Sprague's website and so far it's really good.  This one is taught by Candace Stringham - you get a lot of information in written form, video and audio. The first week dealt with Shutter Speed / how to set them / why you change them / different effects you get and why.  There's a Technical Assignment, a Creative Assignment and a Friday "Field Trip" along with emails five days a week.  You submit your photos and Candace sends written and audio comments back to you.
This week is about Depth of Field and it's a little confusing.  We'll see.....
